An email within the bombshell Jeffrey Epstein files appears to confirm that disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor did have “consensual sex” with his abuse accuser, Virginia Giuffre, whom he claimed to have never met. Ms Giuffre, previously known as Virginia Roberts (her maiden name), was one of the most prominent accusers of convicted sex offender and also a campaigner for victims of sex trafficking.

She brought a defamation case against Epstein in 2015 when she alleged that he, alongside former British socialite and also convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell, sex-trafficked her when she was just 16 years old in 2000. Ms Giuffre, who died by taking her own life last April, also alleged that Epstein forced her to have sex with the former Duke of York three times when she was 17 – in New York, London, and the US Virgin Islands. Andrew has repeatedly and vehemently denied the claims but settled a lawsuit with her in 2022 without accepting any liability for an undisclosed amount.

During his disastrous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, the former prince said about Ms Giuffre: “I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever.”

Now, an email exchange from 2015 between Epstein and Landon Thomas Jr, a former New York Times financial journalist, appears to confirm at least one of Andrew’s alleged sexual encounters with Ms Giuffre.

The email, dated January 16, 2015, sees the two men discussing Epstein’s reputation taking a hit and what he could do to benefit himself, to which the journalist suggests he distances himself from Andrew.

The journalist says: “I can see why a statement might help in some way — but its(sic) Andrew (not clinton and the rest) that is keeping the story alive. Until you are able to come forward and address that the story lives on.

“I mean in the end he [Andrew] had consensual sex with VR [Virginia Robers/Giuffre]. And VR worked for you. The rest is atmospherics.

“You have moved on! People don’t know that and cant(sic) accept that unless you say as much.”

In the email exchange, the convicted paedophile does not appear to dispute the journalist’s claims that Andrew had sex with Ms Giuffre.

Another email in the three million documents released by the US Department of Justice appeared to contradict Andrew’s claims about his abuse accuser.

The email exchange between Epstein and Maxwell, also in January 2015, sees Epstein’s accomplice say that she was “stating for the record as fact” that she introduced Andrew to Ms Giuffre, whom he had previously claimed he had never met, and that a picture was taken at her London home.

A draft statement written by Maxwell and sent to Epstein included the lines: “In 2001, I was in London when (redacted) met a number of friends of mine, including Prince Andrew.

“A photograph was taken as I imagine she wanted to show it to friends and family.”

In his 2019 interview, Andrew denied meeting Ms Giuffre and suggested that the photograph or part of it could have been faked.

He claimed to have been at a Pizza Express in Woking and said at the time: “Nobody can prove whether or not that photograph has been doctored, but I don’t recollect that photograph ever being taken.”

Andrew has not commented on the latest bombshell Epstein files, and his office has been contacted for comment.
