Armed police were scrambled to a housing estate in Litherland, Merseyside following a “shooting”. Officers swarmed Bowland Drive on Monday following reports of shots being fired on nearby Fulwood Way.
Bowland Drive was cordoned off, with at least three police cars and one van spotted at the scene. Merseyside Police said they were called to reports of “shots being fired”. No injuries were reported. Four men were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and taken into custody for questioning. A firearm was also seized.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that armed police are in Litherland following a shooting this afternoon, Monday, March 23.
“At around 4pm, we were called to reports of shots being fired in the area of Fulwood Way. No injuries have been reported.
“Officers are in the area to establish the circumstances and gather evidence. Cordons and road closures are in place while this work continues. Please avoid the area and thanks for your patience.
“As part of enquiries, four men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and taken into custody for questioning. A firearm has also been seized and will be forensically recovered.”

Police remained at the junction of Melling Road and Aintree Lane this evening, and the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal path was also cordoned off.
