Arsenal have reportedly compiled a list of 11 players potentially heading for the exit this summer, as sporting director Andrea Berta concentrates on offloading talent. During his first summer transfer window at the Emirates, Berta splashed out £250million on seven permanent recruits.
An eighth addition, Piero Hincapie, was also secured, with Arsenal set to fork out £45million to finalise his loan from Bayer Leverkusen. This has shifted the focus to financial equilibrium, with Berta aiming for a more successful summer in terms of departures than in 2025.
The Times claim that Arsenal are plotting another squad overhaul following what they hope will be their first Premier League title triumph in over two decades. Among the first-team players currently on loan, only Jakub Kiwior is certain to secure a permanent move and generate a fee for the Gunners (£17m from Porto).
Berta is seeking to find suitors for Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Karl Hein, all due to return to the Emirates this summer with a year remaining on their respective contracts. However, the future of several players who’ve been part of Arteta’s squad this season remains up in the air.
Ben White and Christian Norgaard could be replaced, having seen limited game time this season. Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus’ contracts are also set to expire in 2027.
Gabriel Martinelli is arguably the most prominent player whose future remains uncertain. The Brazilian has two years remaining on his contract, but following Arsenal’s substantial investment in their attacking options, combined with Max Dowman’s breakthrough, Martinelli could be considered expendable.
Academy graduates Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri might also seek departures in pursuit of consistent playing opportunities. Lewis-Skelly has experienced diminished involvement following Hincapie’s arrival, while Nwaneri secured a January loan move to Marseille.
Both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund expressed interest in Nwaneri last summer before he committed to a long-term deal. The midfielder has registered one goal and one assist across eight appearances for Marseille.
Such extensive departures would naturally require Arteta to open the chequebook and recruit replacements. It’s highly unlikely that Arteta would authorise all 11 exits for squad stability purposes following what’s poised to be the most successful season of his time in management.
Regarding incomings, Arsenal are tracking RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba and Newcastle right-back Tino Livramento. The Gunners also intend to initiate contract discussions with Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard, who each have two years remaining on their North London agreements.
Raking in approximately £275,000, Havertz was recently dethroned as Arsenal’s highest earner by Bukayo Saka, who inked a new £300,000-a-week contract last month. It’s reported that Odegaard earns around £240,000.
