Asda employee Jasper Hemsworth, 21, won the 199mph supercar in an Omaze Million Pound House Draw, having bought a ticket for just £20.

But he says his flashy new motor “might look a little out of place in the Asda car park”.

The Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo uses Formula 1-derived technology – old car

AN ASDA worker has swapped supermarkets for supercars after winning a £160,000 Maserati but says he won’t take it to work.

Jasper Hemsworth, 21, scooped the 199mph speed machine as an “Early Bird Prize” in an Omaze Million Pound House Draw for £20.

His big win is a Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo.

Its Twin-turbo 3.0 V6 engine uses Formula 1-derived technology and produces an impressive 550PS with a whopping 650Nm of torque.

It helps the rear-wheel drive machine accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds, hit a top speed of 199mph and cover a quarter mile in a little over 11 seconds.

When he found out he’d won, Jasper exclaimed that his car “might look a little out of place in the Asda car park”.

The car has the trademark Maeserati ‘Trident’ grille as well as the Trofeo-specific body kit and optional £2,400 carbon fibre rear spoiler.

It comes in ‘Grigio Maratea’ paintwork, ‘Pegaso’ forged wheels with a gloss black finish and yellow-painted Brembo brake callipers, that matches the interior stitching.

The car has ample seating for four adults, a generous boot and comes fully specced with all mod cons including a 14-speaker Sonus faber sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 360-degree ‘surround view’ parking cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and many more safety systems.

Jasper, who paid just £20 for his winning entry as part of his Omaze subscription, can enjoy state-of-the-art digital dials with the infotainment and climate functions controlled through the 12.3-inch and 8.8-inch central touchscreens.

He currently works at his local Asda, as well as volunteering at a local primary school, as his dream is to become a teacher one day.

He lives at home with mum Maggie, dad Robert, four rescue dogs, one rescue cat and two rescue donkeys.

Jasper, who passed his driving test two years ago, currently drives a Seat Mii.

He paid £6,000 for his first car, two years ago. The 1 litre, 3-cylinder engine produces just 59 bhp and takes over 14 seconds to reach 60mph – with a top speed of only 99mph.

An elated Jasper said: “When Omaze called to tell me I’d won the car, I was surprised and dubious in equal measure, but once it started to sink in, I knew I was going to have to keep it, it’s just so beautiful and well made, a real delight to own.

“I didn’t actually have time to celebrate as I had a shift at Asda starting in an hour.

“I won’t be taking my new car to work as a Maserati might look a little out of place in the Asda car park! So I’ll be keeping my trusty little Seat Mii.

“I’ve never driven anything like a Maserati before – but I did drive a tank once! I won’t be taking this off-road that’s for sure!

“My Dad is a big petrol head and can’t wait to have a go in it. I want to keep it for special occasions and road trips abroad across Europe with my family. We will do a proper grand tour in it as that’s what it’s made for after all!

“Long-term I might sell it one day and use the money as a deposit for a flat, or something else sensible, but not anytime soon!

“I entered the Omaze Draw as I loved the idea of winning one of the houses – and I also love supporting amazing charities, and I can do both with Omaze.”

Jasper’s £20 winning entry contributed to the £4,000,000 raised for London’s Air Ambulance Charity by Omaze in just six weeks – that helped the charity reach its £15,000,000 target for two brand-new helicopters.

James Oakes, Chief International Officer at Omaze, said: “Everyone at Omaze is over the moon for Jasper.

“He’s won his dream car and is looking forward to taking the road trip of a lifetime with his family. Not only did he win our Early Bird Prize, he also contributed to the incredible £4,000,000 raised for London’s Air Ambulance Charity.

“We’re tremendously proud that the Omaze community has already raised over £56 million for good causes across the UK.”

Jasper hopes his good luck continues and he’ll “one day win an Omaze house to go with my car”.
