Aston Villa eye two more signings after Marcus Rashford including Chelsea star | Football | Sport

But according to separate reports, the Villans are unlikely to call it a day with their winter business when Rashford’s move is signed, sealed and delivered.

Villa boss Unai Emery touched on it after his side’s defeat against Wolves on Saturday, saying: “But the idea is to replace Jhon Duran with another striker,” likely Rashford.

He added: “We are working to get some players to join us on Monday because we have to replace Diego Carlos. We have to replace Emi Buendia.

“It is very difficult because we don’t want to replace them with players who will not help us like I want. We have to be very demanding and intelligent.”

One likely candidate is Marco Asensio, who is on the verge of completing a loan switch from Paris Saint-Germain, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The former Real Madrid star joined PSG in 2023 but has found minutes hard to come by, with Villa happy to give him a home until the conclusion of the campaign.

Unlike the Rashford move, there will be no option to buy for Villa, with the Premier League outfit expected to cover the 29-year-old’s salary in full.

That leaves one position left on Villa’s transfer wishlist left to fill before the window slams shut on Monday evening… centre-half.

Axel Disasi has been touted as a potential option, but progress with the deal appears to have stalled in recent days.

Chelsea had looked open to letting Diasi leave during the winter window, however, reports in France suggest the capital club are biding their time with the move.

Regardless, following the departure of Carlos, who joined Fenerbahce in late January, there’s a vacant spot for a central defender to slide straight into Villa’s backline.

And with a fight for European places, as well as a Champions League last-16 tie to come, they can’t afford to be light in areas for the remainder of the season.
