Casemiro’s wife reduced to tears after Man Utd contract agreement reached | Football | Sport

Casemiro has revealed his wife cried when Manchester United supporters pleaded for him to stay at Old Trafford for another season. This follows an agreement with United, which saw a clause in his contract terminated. The Brazilian, 34, is poised to depart the Red Devils when his deal runs out this summer. He arrived at United in a transfer worth up to £70million from Real Madrid in 2022 and has spent the past four years in Manchester, making than 150 appearances and claiming two major honours.

This season, Casemiro has been amongst United’s most reliable performers. The former Porto star has been absent for just two fixtures for the Reds all season and has established a robust partnership with Kobbie Mainoo since Michael Carrick’s appointment in mid-January, as he attempts to assist the club in securing a top-four place.

And during United’s final home fixture, a 3-1 victory against Aston Villa, fans chanted, ‘One more year, one more year Casemiro’ after he broke the deadlock for the Reds. The midfielder thundered home a header from a Bruno Fernandes corner and celebrated in front of the North West corner.

Following that, Casemiro’s wife Anna Mariana was reduced to tears. “Well, honestly I feel so happy, especially for the affection from the fans, and the respect they have for me,” Casemiro stated.

“So, it’s just gratitude for this love, it is so exciting. I am hoping not to cry on my last day, as it is such a beautiful experience. My wife already cried, the other day, when the fans were asking for one more year.

“So, I just want to enjoy it, enjoy all the moments and I will be a United fan for the rest of my life.”

Casemiro had a clause in his United contract that would have triggered a one-year extension had he started 35 Premier League matches in his final campaign at the club, a figure he remains on track to achieve.

However, Casemiro and the club reached a mutual agreement in January to waive the clause during negotiations to formally confirm his departure from United at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

He was informed by United officials earlier in the season that his contract would not be renewed, yet in early 2026 he asked to make the announcement public, a request to which United duly agreed.

Casemiro has just seven matches remaining in a United shirt, starting with a Premier League clash against Leeds United on Monday, April 13.
