The remaining teams in this year’s Champions League will discover their paths to the final when the last-16 draw takes place today. It’s the second year the revised format has taken place, with the mid-week playoff action throwing up plenty of drama.
Bodo/Glimt provided the biggest shock, as the Norweigan side’s fairy tale run continued with an emphatic win over three-time European champions, Inter Milan. Bodo backed up their win on home soil with a stunning victory at San Siro, and could be rewarded with a knockout rematch against Manchester City, who they’ve already beat this season.
Galatasaray needed extra time to defeat Juventus, despite entering the second leg with a three-goal advantage, while Atalanta – the last remaining Serie A side – scored in the last minute of added time to defeat Borussia Dortmund. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid avoided banana skins to book their spot in the last-16, but they could still be handed a difficult tie in the last-16.
Parts of the draw have already been determined, be that through previous draws or league phase positions. But stick around as all 16 clubs – including the six Premier League representatives – discover what their path to a potential Champions League final might look like.
