Emergency services have rushed to the scene after a plane crashed near Darlington. Two men were taken to hospital, police say. Photos have shown a yellow aircraft in a field. The light plane crashed at Croft Circuit near Darlington, according to witnesses. A cordon has been put up at the scene and emergency responders are dealing with the incident, the Northern Echo reports. Ambulances have been seen, but it is believed that they are “routine” ambulances and usually stationed there all the time.
At 1.14pm, it was reported that there were three police vehicles at the scene, and a man in a high vis jacket appeared to be examining the plane. Witnesses have also spotted two security guards at the scene. A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “We were called to a report that a light aircraft had crashed near Dalton-on-Tees at about 11.50am today. Our officers, supported by officers from Durham Constabulary, attended the scene along with the fire and ambulance services.
“Two men in the aircraft were taken to hospital for checks – however, they are not believed to have been seriously injured.
“We are liaising with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch to determine the full circumstances.”
