An air ambulance has rushed to Edinburgh city centre after emergency services were called to a major incident. Police, fire crews, and paramedics rushed to Constitution Street at around 1.30pm.
An air ambulance was seen landing Leith Links shortly afterwards, with locals reporting seeing a helicopter landing at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh just before 3pm. One eyewitness said: “Someone’s underneath the tram and they’re trying to get them out. I’ve been here for about 15 minutes,” as per The Scotsman.
“I’ve lived in the area all my life, and there’ve been tram incidents, but I’ve never seen anything like this,” they added.
Edinburgh Trams said services were on a part route because of a “medical incident”, as per Edinburgh Live.
A police spokesperson said: “Constitution Street is closed at the junction with Queen Charlotte Street in Edinburgh following a report of a concern for person received around 1.35pm on Friday, 7 November.
“Emergency services are in attendance and the public are advised to avoid the area.”
