A huge explosion rocked a charity event being held at a UK farm. Emergency services were called to reports of a gas explosion at The Lambing Shed Farm Shop & Kitchen, located at Moseley Hall Farm in Knutsford, just after 1pm yesterday (Saturday, February 21).
The incident took place during an event raising funds for the North West Air Ambulance Charity. The Lambing Shed confirmed with a statement that the incident involved their food truck and four members of staff were injured.
“Emergency services responded immediately, and four members of our team were injured. They are currently receiveing medical care and are being supported by their families. We are extremely grateful to the emergency responders for their swift and professional assistance,” the statement read.
As a result of the incident, an event that was scheduled for today (Sunday, February 22) has been cancelled, and the cafe and farm shop will remain closed. “This has not been an easy decision, but our priority right now is the wellbeing of our team.”
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene and alerted police. On arrival, officers found that a gas canister on the site “had ignited and subsequently exploded”. It is understood the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The five people who sustained minor injuries were treated at the scene by attending paramedic teams, and they have since been taken to hospital as a precaution, it is also understood.
