Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee have unveiled a larger batch of images from Jeffrey Epstein’s Caribbean island home, following a smaller selection released earlier on Wednesday.
The newly released pictures and videos offer a glimpse into the disgraced financier’s world, showcasing bedrooms, a room with a dentist’s chair and masks hanging from a wall, and the words “power” and “deception” scrawled on a chalkboard.
‘Never-before-seen’ images provide ‘disturbing look’ into Epstein’s life
The Democrats on the committee describe the pictures and videos as “never-before-seen” and claim they provide a “disturbing look” into Epstein’s life. Robert Garcia, the committee’s ranking Democrat, says the content has been released to “ensure public transparency.”
The US Virgin Islands, where Epstein’s two private islands were located, supplied the files to the committee following a subpoena for the content on 18 November.
Dentist chair and mysterious masks raise questions
The most concerning room in Epstein’s house features what appears to be a full dentist office-style setup in the middle, complete with a chair, a light, and some tools.
The room also contains large unidentified white furniture pieces and a pot with what looks like umbrellas sticking out of it.
However, the most perplexing aspect of the room is the male face masks adorning the walls. The purpose of these masks and who they might represent, if anyone, remains unclear.
Mundane items juxtaposed with disturbing artifacts
The thorough documentation of the house’s contents reveals odd juxtapositions, such as mundane personal items like a large selection of shampoos and conditioners contrasted with a picture of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell meeting Pope John Paul II. Another copy of the photograph was discovered at Epstein’s New York residence.
The house also features small tabletop statues, one depicting a half-naked woman crouching over a chamber pot and another portraying an ichthyocentaur, a Greek mythological character with a man’s head and torso, a horse’s legs, and a fish’s tail.
More documents to come, including bank records
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have stated that today’s photos are just the beginning of the documents they plan to release.
The committee also revealed it has received records from JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank, which they intend to release “after review in the days ahead,” according to a press release.
Like the photos of Epstein’s house, Congress obtained these bank documents from a 18 November request to the US Virgin Islands Attorney General for information related to investigations of Epstein and Maxwell.
Maxwell seeks release, citing potential prejudice
Epstein’s ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, who aided him in luring underage girls for abuse, is preparing to ask the court to release her from prison, her lawyer said in a court filing. She believes the influx of information released by Congress could prejudice a retrial of her case.
Epstein documents mention Trump, but no evidence of wrongdoing
Last month, the House Oversight Committee released thousands of documents belonging to the Epstein estate, mostly emails. Some of these documents mentioned President Donald Trump directly.
However, there has been no evidence of wrongdoing by Trump, and the White House has accused the Democrats of creating a “fake narrative to slander President Trump.”
