The 2026 Formula One season has already provided plenty of talking points as it heads into an unscheduled five-week break. The sport will not return until the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, after races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were cancelled over the Middle East war.

It means Mercedes star Kimi Antonelli heads into the break as F1’s youngest-ever Championship leader after the 19-year-old won races in China and Japan. Meanwhile, team mate George Russell sits in second with the Silver Arrow enjoying a dominant start to the new campaign.

There were scary scenes in Japan last time out after Oliver Bearman crashed out of the Japanese GP midway through the race, with Haas confirming that he has since been released by the medical centre with a contusion to his right knee. The British driver thankfully avoided any fractures as his car span and collided with the advertising hoardings in a 50G impact.

Elsewhere, Red Bull star Max Verstappen continues to be incredibly vocal about the state of F1 this season. The Dutchman has regularly cited how he is thinking about his future in the sport though the impact of new rules and regulations imposed by the FIA.
