Forks aren’t just for food – hidden functions blow minds | Weird | News

A fork is something we use every day.

After all, eating is one of our favourite things to do, and we couldn’t carry out the task without a fork in hand. But, little you may know, the humble fork has many other uses – and you’ll be stunned to find out just how much it can do.

A video, shared by tipshacks.us, has gone viral on TikTok after stunning people with some pretty wild facts. It turns out you can use a fork for a lot more than chomping down food, and it’s left people gobmacked.

In the clip, the presenter states you’d have to have lived for 300 years to know just how many different ways a fork can be used. For example, it can be used to fix a zipper if it comes off your jacket.

When you look at it, it seems simple, but many people never knew it was possible. It was the first nifty life hack the video exposed.

It can also be used as a bottle opener. If you twist a screw into the cork, you can then use a fork to pull out the wine stopper with ease.

Slicing spring onions can also be made a lot easier by using a fork. It turns out, all you need to do is run a fork along it to divide it into strands.

Meanwhile, if you gently press a fork into a garlic clove, it will remove them easily without any fuss. You can then use it to crush each clove down to little pieces.

It can also be used to pull leaves evenly off herbs and veggies when you’re cooking. When it comes to onions, you can insert a fork either side to ensure you slice it evenly.

Not to mention, it can also be used to clean. In the video, the presenter pops a cloth over a fork and uses the handmade gadget to dust hard-to-reach places in their car.

Since the post was shared, more than 200,000 people have liked it. They were quick to comment to share their thoughts – and the tips have been branded “great”.

One person said: “My fork’s been laying around in the drawer, sleeping for years, like it didn’t have a hundred jobs to do.” Another added: “My fork’s just being lazy.”

A third replied: “Somehow I feel my fork has been grossly underused.” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “Thank you for sharing. Great ideas.”

Others also claimed “knowledge is power”, as they admitted they really do learn something knew every day. They can’t believe there are so many tricks they hadn’t seen before.

Our kitchen utensils seem to be capable of much more than we could have ever dreamed of.
