London Heathrow Airport handled more than 83 million passengers in 2024, reclaiming its position as Europe’s busiest hub and ranking fourth globally behind Dubai, Atlanta and Istanbul.
The airport operates from two main runways and four passenger terminals, with Terminal 5 alone capable of processing up to 30 million passengers annually for British Airways.
It serves as the primary international gateway for the United Kingdom, connecting to over 220 destinations in 85 countries through more than 80 airlines.
Despite ongoing debates over a third runway, Heathrow continues to manage near-capacity operations, with peak days seeing over 1,400 flights and 260,000 passengers passing through its gates.
