Iceland shoppers could potentially save £7.20 per transaction as the frozen food retailer launches a new initiative. Iceland Foods has revealed its Mega Deals Event to help British households grapple with financial strain during what many consider the most challenging month of the year. The initiative comes as countless workers face an extended wait between their December and January wages, with some experiencing gaps of up to six weeks between pay packets.
More than 10 million adults in the UK – around 15% of the population – have indicated that they plan to skip meals or cut back on how much they eat in January to reduce costs. Almost one in three households surveyed reported serving smaller portions to make their food budgets last longer. January 15 has been identified as the point when household finances typically run out.
Products eligible for the deal include Goodfellas pizzas, Birds Eye chicken dippers and fish fingers, Aunt Bessie’s chips and Yorkshire puddings, and Richmond sausages.
Additional promotions include buy two get one free arrangements, five items for £5 bundles, and reductions of 50% or more on selected lines. Half-price items span brands such as McCain chips, Pukka pies, Quorn mince, and Birds Eye chicken products.
Richard Walker, Executive Chairman of Iceland Foods, said: “January is a tough month for millions of families across the country. We know this is the point in the year when households are cutting back wherever they can, worrying about the weeks ahead and trying to make every pound work harder.”
“At Iceland, we believe no one should have to worry about feeding their family,” he added.
He said the promotional event was the retailer’s way of helping customers stock up, reduce waste, and get through January feeling more confident and less anxious.
