Brothers Jake and Logan Paul didn’t mince words when expressing their views on Bad Bunny’s half-time performance at Super Bowl LX. The younger sibling went so far as to brand the Puerto Rican music star a “fake American,” in a blistering social media tirade.
Ironically, Jake, an Ohio native, himself owns a luxurious £11million property in Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny’s homeland. Approximately two hours before kick-off at California’s Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, the influencer-turned-pugilist urged his X followers to tune out during the interval. His post read: “Purposefully turning off the halftime show.
“Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them). You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.”
Logan, meanwhile, when asked if he was looking forward to the half-time entertainment as he arrived at the stadium, curtly responded: “No,” maintaining a stern expression before swiftly continuing on his way. The Paul siblings aren’t alone amongst high-profile figures shunning this year’s Big Game performers, with Donald Trump also criticising Bad Bunny.
The US President has branded the rapper’s selection as “absolutely ridiculous,” while the Speaker of the House has deemed it a “terrible decision.”
It follows Bad Bunny’s public disagreement with Trump’s immigration policy, where he openly criticised ICE during his acceptance speech at the Grammys after winning Album of the Year with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. He said: “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out.
“We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans and we are Americans…The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that’s more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love.”
