Kendal Rugby Club: Child dies after being struck by car on pitch | UK | News

A child has been confirmed dead after being struck by a car on a sports pitch at Kendal Rugby Club.

Emergency services were called to the club just before 5pm on Wednesday (March 5) to reports of a collision involving a car and two children on the pitch.

Cumbria Police has confirmed one of the children died and the second was being treated by paramedics.

The driver of a black BMW i40, a man in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police are treating what happened as an isolated incident and have said there is no suggestion it is terror-related.

Specialist investigators have been at the club and a cordon has been raised. The force is asking any witnesses to get in touch.
