King Charles cancer update as monarch set to tour India next year in latest recovery sign | Royal | News

Plans are in the works for King Charles and Queen Camilla to visit India next year on a Royal Tour.

The Mirror reported on Saturday that Foreign Office officials have been given the go-ahead to open discussions with potential host nations for royal visits, with proposals for tours of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh reportedly being drafted.

According to The Mirror, Indian PM Narendra Modi has expressed his desire to host the King and Queen Camilla after they had to cancel their trip last time in 2022 after the death of the late Queen Elizabeth.

A source told The Mirror: “It’s hugely encouraging to be able to make such plans for the King and Queen given the year the monarch has had, but it’s very much full steam ahead.

“A tour of the Indian subcontinent is in the offing, which will be of huge political and cultural significance for Britain on the world stage. The King and Queen are the perfect ambassadors at such a time.”

While plans may be in the works for the monarch to visit the country in 2025, concerns remain high as a result of the Indian PM’s relationship with Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin, who is still in the midst of a war with Ukraine.

The leaders reportedly met at the BRICS summit of world leaders last month and on Tuesday, Putin hailed Russia’s “strategic partnership” with India.

Since then, Mr Modi has said that Moscow’s illegal war in Ukraine should be “ended peacefully”, a sign that India will not get involved with the physical conflict.

While the King has not yet officially visited India on an official Royal Tour as reigning monarch, he did stop off in the country last month on his way back from Samoa.
