Lando Norris to make UK ‘victory lap’ appearance before new F1 season | F1 | Sport

Lando Norris and his McLaren boss Zak Brown will take a victory lap to celebrate their double Formula 1 title success ahead of the new season. Norris became drivers’ champion for the first time, beating Max Verstappen to the crown by just two points across 2025, while his McLaren team celebrated back-to-back constructors’ title successes.

Both their title defences will begin on the first weekend of March with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. But before making the trip Down Under, Norris and chief executive Brown are set to appear on stage at the London Eventim Apollo for a special one-off stage show in front of fans.

The world-exclusive event will see Norris and Brown reflect on one of the most successful seasons in McLaren‘s history. There were still six rounds left in the campaign when the constructors’ title was sealed at the Singapore Grand Prix in early October and, by the end of the year, they had outscored nearest challengers Mercedes by a whopping 366 points.

As for Norris, it was a maiden title success at the age of 26 for the Brit, in his seventh F1 season. Team-mate Oscar Piastri spent most of the campaign at the top of the standings, but suffered a poor run of results as the climax approached and Norris held his nerve to get the better of both Piastri and the late-charging Verstappen.

Norris will speak to fans about how he put everything together over the course of the season to achieve the goal he dreamt of as a young child in his first experiences of karting. And Brown will offer insight on how McLaren went from midfield strugglers to the dominant force on the grid within the space of just a couple of years.

Fans in the audience will also have the chance to put their own questions to Norris and Brown in a dedicated Q&A portion of the evening. The Victory Lap with Lando Norris and Zak Brown event will take places on Thursday, February 22, with tickets on sale from 10am GMT on Friday, January 9.

Before then, McLaren had to focus on their pre-season preparations with testing beginning much earlier than usual this year. New technical regulations, including updated aerodynamic design rules as well as brand new engines, will see teams given extra testing days, starting with a behind-closed-doors test in Barcelona in the last week of January.

TV cameras will then be allowed in for the second three-day test in Bahrain between February 11-13, while the same venue will hold another three days of track action a week later between February 18-20. Norris and Brown will then hot-foot it back to the UK for their on-stage event before travelling Down Under for the season opener in Melbourne.
