Lee Anderson savages Sadiq Khan and vows to never apologise to London’ | Politics | News

Lee Anderson has vowed he will never apologise to Sadiq Khan.

The Reform UK politician blasted the Mayor of London’s track record on violent crime, knife attacks and sex offences in the capital.

Mr Anderson told his party’s conference in Birmingham: “It should be him who is apologising to the people of London.”

He declared, to the delight of his supporters: “In my opinion, he has given our capital city away and he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.

“I was told at the time that I must apologise to Labour’s mayor in London. Now, let me tell you conference, I will never apologise to that man. Let’s look at his track record. Overall crime up 21%, violent crime 35%, homicides 5%, knife crime 54%, sexual offences 51%. It should be him who is apologising to the people of London.”

A member of the audience then shouted out “disgrace”.

And Mr Anderson responded: “A disgrace, you’re right.

“He’s got the cheek to tell us that he doesn’t feel safe in London. He’s got bodyguards, armoured car, 24 hour security, he’s in charge of the Met Police and he doesn’t feel safe?

“How does he think that 10 million people that live in London feel under his leadership? This man needs booting out of office for the sake of London.”

Mr Anderson had the Tory whip withdrawn after suggesting Labour London Mayor Sadiq Khan was controlled by Islamists.

The MP set out his case for refusing to say sorry in an article for the Express, writing: “The simple fact is I am not a racist but in this day and age the opposition are very quick to use the race card for political advantage and unfortunately some of my colleagues also fell into the race trap.”
