Luke Littler joined the 2025 Premier League nine-darter party with a stunning maximum checkout on night seven in Cardiff. The Nuke romped to his third nightly win of the year so far on an evening where his world-class ability once again shone through.
Littler kicked the night off with a 6-3 victory over Nathan Aspinall, before leaving Rob Cross in his wake by virtue of a 6-2 semi-final triumph. It set up a blockbuster clash with Michael van Gerwen in the final, where Littler, despite the Green Machine’s best efforts, secured a stunning 6-4 win.
Reacting to another night of sensational darts, Littler told Sky Sports afterwards: “I have been playing very well. I have not picked my darts up since last Thursday – I had a week off to chill. But to come here and win and be six points clear, I am comfortable.
“All players have to have a rest and after the performance tonight, I will have another week off! I just want to get to the O2 [for May’s play-offs] as quickly as possible. I have put myself in a really good position and I do want to finish No 1. I was happy with my doubles tonight but there is plenty more to come.”
The win has left the reigning world champion sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League standings, with Littler now seven points clear of second-placed Humphries. Below the top two, Van Gerwen moved up to third with his run to the final, while Gerwyn Price currently holds the final play-off spot in fourth.
At the opposite end of the table, Stephen Bunting remains without a win at this year’s Premier League, having lost his seventh consecutive match on Thursday night. Things don’t get much easier for the Bullet, given he’s been paired up against Littler in Newcastle next week.
