A section of a major motorway has been closed on Sunday evening following a vehicle fire, as emergency services rush to the scene. The M3 in Hampshire is closed in westbound between J6 (Black Dam Interchange, Basingstoke) and J7 (Dummer), due to a two-vehicle collision and subsequent vehicle fire.
Hampshire Fire Service is leading the response at this stage, but other emergency services remain on scene. National Highways traffic officers are also helping with strategic closures on the approach.
Road users travelling westbound are advised to follow the solid triangle symbol for the diversion route.
Exit the M3 at J6, take the 2nd exit on to the spur to Black Dam Roundabout. Take the 1st exit and join the A30 (Ringway South).
At the roundabout with Winchester Road, take the 1st exit on to Winchester Road (A30). Follow the A30 to the M3 J7 interchange, take the 3rd exit and rejoin the A30 westbound.
