Met Office names UK areas to get snow before Monday | Weather | News

Brits should prepare for cold weather, as Met Office forecasts show that parts of the UK will experience snow ahead of Monday. Maps by the weather agency show that snow is expected to hit the areas over the next few days. From tomorrow (February 27), an Atlantic system will move in, bringing snow and rain across the nation. The map shows snow accumulating between 0.5 and 4mm per hour, travelling across Scotland, mainly the Highlands, and continuing to move westwards throughout the day.

By early evening, most of the snow would have cleared, but around 10pm, the weather maps show a white patch in Edinburgh and one developing in the Scottish borders.

The following day will see snow appear across East Ayrshire, then move further down the Scottish Borders and into Cumbria, continuing to develop south and across northern England.

While snow is expected to reach England on Saturday, February 28, it will also spread across parts of Scotland, including South Lanarkshire and Glasgow.

As the day progresses, snow will develop across Preston, Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent, but will quickly clear up. However, Saturday evening will bring a large band of snow, indicated by the huge patch covering the western Highlands, which will continue to move westwards into Sunday morning before turning into rainfall.

Headline:

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
