Moment US sets Iranian warship on fire as Trump boasts ‘they’ve lost everything’ | World | News

The US military carried out an attack on a massive Iranian drone carrier, leaving the ship “roughly the size of a WW2 aircraft carrier” in flames, the US Central Command said. The strike took place in the early hours of March 6, as the conflict was entering its seventh day.

Sharing an update on X, US Central Command (CENTCOM) wrote: “US forces aren’t holding back on the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy. Today, an Iranian drone carrier, roughly the size of a WWII aircraft carrier, was struck and is now on fire.”

In the video, the ship suddenly bursts into a cloud of smoke, and pieces of debris can be seen dropping into the sea below. US Central Command noted that the vessel was comparable in size to a World War II aircraft carrier.

It comes as the US President claimed that Iran has “lost everything”.

Speaking to Sky’s US partner network, NBC News, Mr Trump called the Iranian foreign minister’s comments about Iran being ready for a ground invasion a “wasted comment” and suggested it is not something he is currently thinking about.

He added: “It’s a waste of time. They’ve lost everything. They’ve lost their navy. They’ve lost everything they can lose.”

On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei accused the US and Israel of carrying out an attack targetting an elementary school in Tehran’s Niloufar Square.

Writing on X, he shared a video of what looks like a school classrooms with blown out windows and extensive debris. However, he did not say anything about the casualties.

Meanwhile, Israel has announced that the war is entering a new phase as it steps up airstrikes in Tehran and Beirut, prompting an extraordinary evacuation order telling residents to protect themselves.

At the same time, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have come under drone and missile attacks, and people in Dubai have received emergency alerts urging them to take shelter as the regional conflict continues to widen.

The IDF said on Friday that around 50 Israeli fighter jets have struck an underground bunker built for Iran’s supreme leader a short time ago, its military has said. Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the initial US-Israeli strikes last Saturday.

The IDF said on Telegram: “Khamenei was eliminated before he could use the bunker during operation ‘Roaring Lion’ but the compound continued to be used by senior Iranian regime officials.”
