Netflix is airing popular action movie that ‘outshines’ James Bond | Films | Entertainment

Netflix has released an “extraordinary” action film that an expert says gives iconic movies like John Wick and James Bond a run for their money. Packed with relentless fight scenes, explosive set pieces and a gripping emotional core, the film has built a reputation as a standout.

The film critic at 3DVF shared: “Ten years of bullet ballets and shaken martinis, yet the fiercest challenger lands on Netflix. Ready for one relentless sequence that could make the genre’s slickest icons look slow?” Here’s why Extracion (2020) is an action favourite and is being hailed as one of Netflix’s most thrilling offerings.

Extraction was released on Netflix in April 2020, and stars Marvel’s Thor, Chris Hemsworth. The film is based on the comic Ciudad and is directed by Sam Hargrave.

The plot

Tyler Rake, played by Chris Hemsworth, is a hardened mercenary with nothing left to lose. He subsequently is hired to rescue a kidnapped crime lord’s son in Bangladesh.

Rake is thrown into the ruthless underworld of arms dealers and traffickers as he attempts to rescue the boy who is used as a pawn between drug lords.

Trapped in one of the world’s most dangerous cities, the mission quickly spirals out of control. As violence intensifies, Tyler must confront his past while fighting to survive and complete the impossible rescue.

According to the film critic: “The film is often stacked against John Wick and James Bond, and for good reason.

“Its mix of raw energy, blistering choreography, and a quietly beating, deeply human heart gives it staying power beyond the first tidal wave of hype.”

They continued: “Chris Hemsworth sheds the cape and plays Rake with bruised resolve and weary tenderness. He’s hulking, yes, but also guarded, grieving, and unexpectedly gentle with the boy he must save.

“The combat feels gritty, close, and improvised, blurring the line between control and chaos. For action devotees, what more could you ask for?”

The sequel, Extraction 2, came out in 2023 on Netflix. Both films are on the platform now for viewers to enjoy. Extraction 3 is due to start filming in the summer this year and has a predicted release of 2027.
