The National Hockey League have confirmed the death of reporter Jessi Pierce and her three children in a house fire in Minnesota on Saturday. Tributes have flooded in for the reporter as well as Hudson, Cayden and Avery.
In a statement on Sunday, the NHL confirmed the devastating news: “The entire National Hockey League family sends our prayers and deepest condolences to the Pierce family on the passing of Jessi Pierce and her three young children. Jessi loved our game and was a valued member of the NHL.com team for a decade. We will miss her terribly.”
The Fire department have confirmed that they responded to an emergency call in White Bear Lake just before 5:30am on Saturday morning. Neighbours report witnessing flames emerging through the roof, with it likely that people were inside the property.
Upon arrival, the fire department discovered a deceased adult and three deceased children. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is now ongoing.
In a statement, the Minnesota Wild said: “The Minnesota Wild organisation is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Jessi Pierce and her children.
“Jessi was a kind, compassionate person that cared deeply about her family and those around her. She served as a dedicated ambassador for the game of hockey during her time covering the Wild and the NHL. Jessi and her children will be greatly missed.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to their family, friends, and all who knew and loved them.”
Fellow presenter of the Bardown Beauties podcast Kristen Krull also paid her tribute. “Family isn’t always blood, but the people you choose and that couldn’t have been more true,” she posted on social media.
“Jessi was like another big sister to me. She had a confidence and a way of being able to talk to anyone that I envied.
“She had an unmatched work ethic and a huge heart.
“Any time I needed help, needed to rant, or needed someone she was there without hesitation. Most importantly, she was the best mom and loved her kids and family fiercely.”
