Noa Lang was forced off during Galatasaray’s Champions League match against Liverpool after sustaining what appeared to be a serious hand injury. The Dutch winger had been a constant threat to the Reds before the incident, leaving Anfield in stunned silence as he received medical attention on the pitch.
-
The 26-year-old was immediately taken to hospital for more treatment after colliding with an advertising board on the side of the pitch and falling to the floor in pain.
-
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk expressed his deep concern in the post-match press conference, admitting the injury “did not look good.” Lang’s teammates were visibly distressed as he was helped from the field, knowing his absence would be a massive loss.
-
Before his withdrawal, Lang’s direct running and creativity had caused problems for the Liverpool defence. His exit significantly blunted Galatasaray’s counter-attacking threat and the game was brought to a halt shortly before the final whistle.
-
His head coach said: “He is going to the hospital, important issue he has with his finger. They have brought him there. If there is an operation, they will do it here.”
-
The injury is also a blow to the Netherlands national team, as Lang was hoping to play a role in their upcoming fixtures.
