One in five working adults lie to their boss – can you tell when they are?

Reckon you can spot a fibber?

Put your facial reading skills to the test to see if you can identify when someone is being honest or not telling the truth.

It comes as a study found a fifth of working adults ‘regularly’ fib to their boss. The recent poll found the most lies were to cover why they were late arriving to work, how busy or quiet their workload is and of course, pulling a sickie.

But according to the research the top fib is simply around how they are feeling.

Unfortunately 16% have been caught out with their lies. Consequently, employees have received a verbal or written warning while two out of 10 have lost their job as a result.

A spokesperson for 888poker, who created the quiz, said: “You can interpret people as much by the way they speak, as the words they use. This fun quiz will discover how observant you are of others.”

The research also found those who fib to their employer do so on average once a week, including about their whereabouts and why they missed a deadline. And according to the research, they do this to avoid getting in troule and to make life easier at work.

The spokesperson added: “The workplace in particular is an interesting place to explore telling white lies, because the hierarchy means you could get in trouble, but also colleagues perhaps don’t know you as well as friends and family do”

Interestly, many employees believe their teammates tell a lie to their boss more often than they do and almost half agreed all workers tell white lies.

So can you tell whether your colleague or boss is lying to you? Take this quiz to find out.
