Police make urgent CCTV appeal after ‘attempted rape’ of woman | UK | News

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they are trying to track down in connection with an attempted rape of a woman in a city centre park. Derbyshire Constabulary say the incident happened when a man approached a woman, forced her down and attempted to rape her in Bass’ Recreation Ground, Derby, between 11.56pm on Saturday, November  8 and 4am on Sunday, November 9 last year.

The suspect is described as a black man about 5ft 9ins tall, who was wearing a cream t-shirt and either shorts or jogging bottoms. The force says it has made extensive enquiries as part of its investigation and is now turning to the public for assistance. A police spokesperson said: “We have released a picture of a man who was seen in the area around the time of the offence. We appreciate the picture is not the clearest but we are hoping someone may be able to come forward with information about the man’s identity.”
