Prince Harry’s ‘dream’ is to make 1 thing happen at UK Invictus Games | Royal | News

A source told The Sun: “Prince Harry desperately wants Charles at Invictus — and he wants him to open the games alongside him.

“Harry wants it to happen both for the games, and for their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father by his side.

“It is appropriate because Invictus is returning to the UK for the first time since 2014, and given Charles is Head of the Armed Forces.

“Invictus always invites Heads of State but Harry wants to go further with Charles involved in the opening ceremony. The games represent a cause close to both’s hearts.”

It is believed that if the King, 77, does open the ceremony alongside his youngest son, this will be a sign that the pair have put all their past problems behind them – something that may have been the case since their last meeting in September.

However, it is not yet known whether the monarch would accept such an invite, or whether he will even attend the event next year.

It is also not known whether Harry’s wife Meghan Markle will fly to Harry’s home country for the event.

This is because while she usually attends The Invictus Games when they take place, she has not stepped foot on UK soil since 2022, despite her husband’s frequent trips back to his home country.

Instead, the duchess has always opted to stay at the couple’s Montecito home in California with their children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, when Harry returns to the UK.
