Salah leaves Liverpool training after Slot relationship breakdown | Football | Sport

Mohamed Salah trained with his Liverpool teammates for the first time since his outburst. The Egyptian made explosive remarks about his contentment at Anfield after being left on the bench for a third consecutive match.

Salah remained sidelined as an unused substitute during their 3-3 stalemate with Leeds United. Dominik Szoboszlai stepped in and scored, but Liverpool surrendered their advantage twice before Ao Tanaka levelled in added time. The 33-year-old’s future remains unclear, with the Egyptian set to link up with his national squad next week for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Saudi Arabian sides are reportedly circling and keeping tabs on developments on Merseyside after Salah claimed he has been “thrown under the bus”. On Sunday, he was seen leaving the AXA Training Centre as the media furore persists following his remarks.

The attacker was spotted in his black Rolls-Royce and flashed a smile for photographers gathered outside the training complex. Salah joined his colleagues for a routine recovery session after their draw with Leeds which leaves them three points adrift of the top four.

Speaking in the mixed zone at Elland Road, Salah said: “I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season. Now I’m sitting on the bench, and I don’t know why. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus.

“That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far, I am on the bench for three games so I can’t say they keep the promise.

“Yeah, there’s no relationship between us [him and Arne Slot]. It was a very good relationship and now all of a sudden there is no relationship.” The Reds return to European action on Tuesday with a crucial trip to Italy to face Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Following their damaging 4-1 home reverse against PSV Eindhoven, Liverpool desperately need three points to get their campaign back on track. Currently positioned outside the automatic qualification spots, they’re staring at the prospect of a playoff tie to reach the knockout rounds.

“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.

His explosive comments following Saturday’s stalemate have cast further doubt over his involvement in Milan. Attention now turns to Kirkby on Monday, where Liverpool will conduct an open training session at 11:45am, before manager Arne Slot faces the media at approximately 6pm.
