The Christmas film that’s ‘the best of all time’ and available on Amazon Prime | Films | Entertainment

Picking a festive film to watch comes around so quickly each year – and you might find you’re seeing the same ones again and again. But if you’ve already watched Home Alone, Elf and The Grinch, there’s one film that could make for an entertaining watch.

Huffington Post has named The Muppet Christmas Carol as the best Christmas film.

It says: “There’ve been many, many retellings and reimaginings of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol over the years, but none as inspired and entertaining as The Muppets’ take on the classic tale. The combination of Kermit The Frog and Michael Cain as Bob Cratchit and Scrooge is genius, Rizzo and Gonzo’s narration is hilarious, and the soundtrack is unquestionably 10 out of 10.”

The 1992 film has warmed the hearts of its audiences over the decades.

It was the first Muppets movie to be released since creator Jim Henson’s death which meant there was a lot of pressure on it to be popular and successful.

It was originally intended to be a TV special but after Disney saw the script, it was adapted into a film instead.

One person who watched the film on Rotten Tomatoes said: “This remarkable work of cinema is easily the best adaptation of the classic Dickens tale.

“It’s humorous yet heartfelt, has an excellent soundtrack, and is surprisingly faithful to the source material.

“Michael Caine is perfectly cast as Ebenezer Scrooge, and his decision to treat the Muppets as fellow actors was an absolutely brilliant move.

“The Muppets prove their greatness yet again in this expertly-crafted delightful film for the whole family.”

Sir Michael Caine reportedly considers the role of Scrooge to be one of his most memorable.

If you’re hoping to watch this film over Christmas, you can find it on Disney+.
