Prince William and Princess Kate may be two of the most famous people in the world, however according to one former aide, there are two things they really aren’t interested in. In an interview released just days ago with 60 Minutes Australia, Jason Knauf revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales, 42 and 43, would not be public figures if they had the choice.
Knauf, who worked as the couple’s communications secretary before eventually becoming the chief executive of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Royal Foundation, a position he held until late 2021, also revealed that there are two things they are unfazed by. Speaking on the documentary, he said William and Kate were not interested in “fame and celebrity”. He said: “Neither of the prince or the princess would choose to be public figures. They’re not that interested in the fame and celebrity that comes with it.”
Knauf continued: “In fact, not really interested at all.
“I think that makes it quite interesting in today’s world to see people out there doing their jobs but for the right reasons.
“With both of these people, the prince and the princess, what you see is what you really get behind the scenes as well.”
In the interview, Knauf also shared how William struggled after finding out about Kate’s cancer diagnosis last year.
The princess underwent chemotherapy last year which came to an end in September, announcing in January this year that the cancer was in remission.
Speaking about the call he had with William, Knauf said: “Within a couple of weeks, if you’re Prince William, you find out that both your wife and your father have cancer. I couldn’t believe it.
“It was awful, absolutely awful. It’s the lowest I’ve ever seen him (William).”
