A woman’s body has been recovered from the sea at a popular UK beauty spot. Devon and Cornwall Police were called at 1.30pm on Monday (January 5) to Berry Head in Brixham, Devon, after a body was discovered in the water.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but tragically, the woman in her 50s was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police said the woman was a local resident and that her next of kin have been informed. A coastguard rescue helicopter was seen in the area yesterday afternoon.
Officers added that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called around 1.30pm on Monday 5 January following the discovery of a woman’s body in the water off Berry Head, Brixham.
“Emergency services attended but sadly, the woman in her 50s and from the local area, was pronounced deceased.
“Her next of kin has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
