A major high street store has confirmed closure dates for several stores. It comes amid financial difficulties currently facing the wider industry. Banks, supermarkets, and fashion chains are all feeling the pressures from the economic climate, leaving companies with no choice but to axe shops nationwide.
Claire’s, which operates over 150 UK stores, is one of the many businesses that collapsed into administration this year. The fashion chain known for its affordable fashion, jewellery and hair accessories fell into administration in January 2026, following a previous collapse in August 2025. It has left more than 150 stores and 1,000 jobs at risk.
The chain has launched closing-down sales across its branch network, with some shops already shut. Last week saw the closure of its Swindon branch, with April 11 being the last day the shop welcomed customers.
The confirmation date for another one of its stores has also been confirmed. Its Bangor branch will close on April 18. Shoppers can make the most of its closing-down sale, which is running while stock is being cleared ahead of its shutdown.
Furthermore, news of its store at Yates Shopping Centre in Bristol closing down was shared on social media. Items are going for up to 80% off at the store. However, the promotions do not include the store’s surprise bags.
The exact date of the store closure remains unknown. Similarly, for a Claire’s branch in Chester, which has launched a 70% closing down sale.
According to Retail Gazette, a French jewellery entrepreneur is in talks to rescue the UK arm of Claire’s Accessories. Julien Jarjoura is reportedly in talks with the business’s administrators and landlords about a deal, and believes that the fashion chain is worth saving.
He said: “As an entrepreneur I could not bear the idea of letting go a business that was worth saving.”
“I was in London a few weeks ago and landlords have responded in a really positive way.”
The entrepreneur has already acquired outlets in Austria, France, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
