UK weather maps show the nation is in store for plummeting conditions, with snow and rain forecast to hit a significant number of areas across the UK next week. The maps valid between April 2 and April 6 show stormy weather sweeping across the UK, with the nation in large purple, white, and blue patches, indicating wintry conditions.

The map for April 2 shows an Arctic storm bringing showery weather to dominate the nation, with it continuing into the following days. Areas including Glasgow, Aberdeenshire, Greater Manchester, the West Midlands, and Norfolk will be affected throughout the period.

WXCharts map, generated using met desk data, shows that parts of Scotland will mainly take the brunt of the Arctic, with areas including the Highlands, Moray, and Aberdeenshire experiencing snowfall, with some spillover towards Aberdeen and northern Angus.

While most of the UK will remain dry by the evening, particularly southern England, some parts of the nation, including the West Midlands, will experience spells of showers.

The unsettled conditions are expected to continue through to April 6, with rainfall hitting southern and eastern England and parts of the Midlands, and then snow reaching northern England and stretching into Scotland.

Accumulating snow can be seen across parts of Northumberland and County Durham, and on higher ground in North Yorkshire. A large part of Scotland will also remain impacted by the snow.

The Met Office Long Range Forecast for the period of April 1 to April 10 states a contrast in weather conditions between the North and the South, while also warning of wetter weather to come.

It reads: “High pressure to the southwest of the UK, with weather fronts rounding the high to affect northern parts at times, is likely the dominant pattern through this period. Wetter and windier weather can be expected in the north, while further south, drier and more settled conditions are more likely.

“There is a chance of deeper lows moving across the UK at times, bringing wetter and windier weather more widely. Later in the period, high pressure may spread across much of the UK leading to more widespread settled conditions.

“Whilst temperatures will be generally near to or a little above average, some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north, where there could be some wintry showers at times.
