A series of product recall notices were issued this week, as customers have been urged to stop using the items. The Office for Product Safety and Standards has updated its recall list with soap, beauty creams and duvet sets.
Customers have been warned about the products and have been urged to return them to their point of purchase for a refund. Some of the items contain banned ingredients, which are harmful to health, while others contain metal pins. If you have any of the affected products, contact the retailer for any further information.
Beauty cream
Faiza Beauty Cream is described as a skin lightening cream in a purple box with yellow writing and was recalled this week due to a “serious chemical risk”. It has been sold by Lajawab Foods Limited and contains excess levels of mercury, which is banned.
“Mercury is prohibited for use in cosmetic products,” the OPSS said. “Exposure to mercury may cause a wide range of adverse effects, including damage to internal organs, the circulatory system, and the nervous system. The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 (‘The Cosmetics Regulation’).”
Bath bomb
Scotch Mystic’s Blackberry and Almond Donut Bath Melt presents a “high risk of choking” and so has been recalled. Bath melts are commonly used instead of bubble bath because they melt slowly in warm water.
The recalled item is described as doughnut-shaped, with real sugar strands on top. The OPSS warned: “The product presents a risk of choking as it is foreseeable that children or vulnerable adults could mistake it for food. Due to the composition of the product, if bitten it will disintegrate into smaller parts.
“These small parts pose a choking risk to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths.”
Asda duvet
The supermarket’s Red & Pink Harlequin Super Snuggly Teddy Duvet Set, which was sold to customers between August 2025 and January 2026, has been recalled over the risk that it may contain metal pins.
Asda said: “It has been identified that a small number of products may contain metal pins originating from the manufacturing process. The presence of these foreign metal components poses a risk of laceration to users.
“The product does not meet the requirement of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005, so we have taken the decision to recall the products.”
The recall is for all duvet sizes in that pattern. They have the following product codes: Single 5063089974438, Double 5063089974445 and King 5063089974452.
