Zara Tindall’s 10-word swipe about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding | Royal | News

Zara Tindall delivered a 10-word swipe comparing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding to the nuptials of his cousin, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank held during the same year in 2018.

The decision to hold both weddings in close proximately prompted Princess Anne’s daughter to make a comparison between the two.

A lip reader believes to have captured what Zara was spotted saying to the Duke of Sussex on October 12, 2018, on Eugenie’s wedding day, which was also held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

While sitting down in the chapel, Zara turned towards the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and, according to a lip reader who spoke to the Mirror, said in a 10-word swipe: “It’s very quiet compared to the screaming at your wedding”.

Meghan Markle who was sitting between the Princess Royal and Harry during the ceremony, was spotted leaning in, likely to try and hear the conversation with ease.

In response to Zara’s remark, the Duke of Sussex seemingly asked his cousin: “Mine?”

Zara, 43, could have potentially recalled the fans and well-wishers who had gathered outside St George’s Chapel and along the streets of Windsor to catch a glimpse of Meghan and Harry as newlyweds.

As Princess Eugenie held a less prominent role within the Firm at the time, it meant her wedding could have attracted a smaller crowd.

Princess Eugenie of York married her fiance, Jack Brooksbank, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, five months after her cousin the Duke of Sussex chose the same venue for his nuptials in May. The bride wore a stunning dress by Peter Pilotto and carried a simple bouquet of white buds and blue thistles for her wedding flowers.

The royal cousins are known to have grown up as a tight-knit group, attending events both publicly and privately, and are said to have remained close.

Following Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision to relocate to the US and step down as working royals in 2020, Eugenie is the only cousin known to have maintained a very close bond with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s decision to buy a home in Portugal may have been influenced by their close relationship with Eugenie who also owns a property in the country with her husband.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly purchased a getaway at the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club in Melides, Portugal, located by the Atlantic coast around 130 kilometres south of the capital Lisbon, in an area known as ‘the Hamptons of Portugal’.

Spread across 722 acres, the property offers amenities like a golf course designed by famed architect Tom Fazio, a beach club, an equestrian centre, fitness and spa facilities and an organic farm.

The pair currently live in a 16-bedroom, nine-bathroom estate in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilbet, three.
