A schoolteacher is accused of having an intimate relationship with a former pupil, and faces multiple charges. An investigation started in January following a complaint about an inappropriate relationship between a female school teacher and an ex-student. Marisa Noel, 31, a former fifth grade teacher in Louisiana, has been arrested on suspicion of multiple charges.
She faces a total of 25, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. Out of these, 10 involve accusations of indecent behaviour with juveniles. There is one count of first-degree rape, two counts related to child sexual abuse material, one count of unlawful communications and three counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
The woman allegedly abused her position of trust with students – and there are multiple purported victims, authorities say.
Sheriff Becket Breaux launched an investigation on January 28.
This happened after receiving a complaint that Noel was having “an inappropriate relationship with one of her former students”.
At the time, she was a teacher at Teche Elementary School.
According to Fox News, with assistance from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations, there was enough evidence to arrest the former teacher on suspicion of four counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and four counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, authorities said.
Additional charges were added after another unnamed alleged victim was identified, authorities say.
Authorities have not revealed the ages of the former teacher’s purported victims.
Noel is now being held at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center, and has been there since Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing and it is not clear whether more charges will be filed.
