The 24h Nurburgring race in Germany was brought to an abrupt halt after an on-track collision, with ambulances rushing to the scene. It wasn’t immediately clear what had caused the red flag to be called, but it was later made clear that seven cars were involved in the incident.
A statement from race control read: “Rescue operations for several injured riders are currently in full swing. We will provide an update from Race Control as soon as further information becomes available.”
Max Verstappen was taking part in the 24h Nurburgring race, but wasn’t on the track at the time of the seven-car pile-up.
