The Bank of Scotland has confirmed new branch closures for June. The closures come as more customers are turning to online banking. In recent years, a large number of branches from multiple UK banks have closed due to lower demand for in-person services.
The Bank of Scotland will shut 28 branches in 2026, with many already closed. In June, 10 will shut, leaving two more to close in August and another two in October. The closures are the latest to have been confirmed by the Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Halifax and Bank of Scotland.

On its website, the Bank of Scotland says: “When making changes to our branch network, we always look to understand the impact on our customers – including how they continue to access banking services.
“Because of this, we may sometimes have a Community Banker visit the area after the branch closes.
“Or as part of an independent review a Banking Hub or Deposit Service may be set up in a nearby location.”
Speaking to the Daily Record last year about closures, a Bank of Scotland spokesperson said: “Many of our customers are using our app for on-demand access to their money, and customers have more choice and flexibility than ever for their day-to-day banking.
“Alongside our app, customers can also use telephone banking, visit a Community Banker or use any Bank of Scotland branch.
“Customers can also do their everyday banking at the Post Office or in a Banking Hub.”
