Drivers on a busy section of the M25 are facing traffic chaos and huge delays this morning as torrential rain hammers the UK. Lanes 1 and 2 clockwise are closed on the UK’s busiest motorway in Surrey between junctions 5 and 6 due to a broken down vehicle.
National Highways has warned drivers they face delays of more than 60 minutes on approach, coupled with eight miles of traffic. Motorway camera footage shows traffic at a virtual standstill. National Highways South East wrote on X: “Lanes 1 and 2 (of 4) remain closed on the #M25 in #Surrey clockwise between J5-J6 due to a broken down vehicle. Recovery has now arrived on scene. There are delays in excess of 60 minutes on the approach with 8 miles of congestion.”
