Festivalgoers have revealed the moments they look forward to most | UK | News

Festivalgoers have revealed the moments they look forward to most — from finding a freshly cleaned loo and a bar tent with no queue, to forming a random three-day friendship.

A poll of 1,500 festival fans found their standout memories include a surprise guest being brought on stage, finally hearing the song they’ve been waiting all weekend to hear live, and the crowd singing the same lyric in unison. Watching the sunset, and waking up to music already playing, were also voted among their favourite moments.

More than two thirds said festivals have created some of the most memorable moments of their lives, while 47% agreed that being able to capture moments on their phone makes the experience feel complete.

The research was commissioned by Samsung UK & Ireland to mark the launch of the Galaxy A57 5G, which includes features such as Object Eraser and Edit Suggestion to help festivalgoers capture, edit and share the moments they care about most.

The study found 20% share their favourite festival moments on social media within 24 hours, while 82% said capturing content helps them relive the experience once the event is over. However, 25% said they wished their phone had a feature that could remove photobombers and background distractions.

It’s not all smiles for modern festivalgoers, as experiences can quickly be ruined by common tech frustrations. A phone running out of charge, accidentally dropping it in a muddy puddle, and running out of storage ranked among the biggest festival mood killers.

Meanwhile, 15% admitted that realising photos and videos didn’t turn out properly ranks among their biggest frustrations during festival season.

A quarter said they would enjoy a festival less if they couldn’t watch it back later, with many reliving memories by rewatching videos or looking back at photos.

Long battery life for all-day capturing and sharing (55%) and a durable design (32%) were named among the most useful phone features for sharing festival highlights.
