Armed police cordon off street in suspected ‘hazardous incident’ | UK | News

Armed police sealed off part of Salford as officers searched a vehicle during an incident on Wednesday evening.

A section of Loganberry Avenue, close to the shopping precinct, was cordoned off at approximately 9pm on May 27.

Fire crews attended the scene and examined the black vehicle. Footage circulated publicly on Snapchat showed numerous emergency vehicles present, Manchester Evening News reports.

The response followed reports of a suspected hazardous incident. Fire crews ‘assessed and controlled’ the substance, though no additional details have been released.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 9pm this evening (Wednesday 27 May), fire crews were called to reports of a suspected hazardous substance on Hankinson Way in Salford.”

“Two fire engines from Salford quickly attended the scene and worked alongside Greater Manchester Police to safely assess and control the substance.

“Crews were in attendance for around 45 minutes before handing the incident over to the Police.”

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a statement regarding the incident.
