Dozens more banks will shut their doors for the last time in weeks as some of the country’s biggest financial institutions axe more branches. Santander and NatWest previously said they were closing scores of branches as customers were using online banking services rather than going into branches.
While Santander has already closed the 40 branches scheduled to go in 2026, it has four more planned closures. These closure dates have yet to be given a firm date but all will be before February 1, 2027.
NatWest will close a further 14 branches in June, following on from dozens already closed this year. Lloyds Group is also closing dozens of branches with 37 Lloyds, 25 Halifax and 10 Bank of Scotland all going next month across the UK.
A total of 86 confirmed closures are scheduled to come across the four banks in June, with the next wave starting this week. The first will close on Monday, June 1, with others to follow.
