Michael Schumacher‘s ‘extremely demanding’ medical regimen has been revealed in a trial concerning the alleged rape of his former nurse by another racing driver. Joey Mawson, who has competed in various categories including Formula Three, is accused of sexually assaulting the unconscious woman at the Schumacher family home in Switzerland. The nurse alleges that she was raped twice by Mawson on the same day in 2019, but the Australian driver denies the charges and has previously claimed the sex was consensual.
He stood trial on Tuesday and it was revealed during the proceedings that, in an unrelated event, the alleged victim lost her job working for the Schumacher family less than a year later. Her lawyer shed light on the nature of her work, which included providing around-the-clock treatment to the seven-time F1 world champion.
Addressing the court, the lawyer said: “It’s an extremely demanding job, both physically and emotionally. Added to that is the culture of silence surrounding this family.
“That’s understandable, but for the employees, who aren’t even allowed to talk to their friends about their daily lives, the pressure is enormous.”
“I say this because it shows how seriously and passionately she performed her work. She was entrusted with the most difficult tasks. She stepped in when staff were needed, she filled the gaps.”
He added: “This is no ordinary profession. There are countless articles about what happens in this house and how the champion (Michael Schumacher) is doing.
“It is a test, an enormous amount of pressure, which she masters perfectly. She is impeccable. The Schumacher family themselves say that her work is perfect.”
Schumacher has not been seen in public since his near-fatal skiing accident 12 years ago, which took place at the exclusive Meribel resort in the French Alps.
