Supernatural devotees are in for a thrilling new adventure — though with one notable twist, reports the Mirror. The iconic Winchester brothers Dean and Sam — brought to life by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki respectively in The Boys creator Eric Kripke‘s beloved CW TV series — are set to reunite alongside Castiel (portrayed by Mischa Collins in the show) for an all-new story, it has been confirmed.
The beloved trio will return in Supernatural Special: Castiel #1 from Dynamite Entertainment. This eagerly anticipated development officially marks Supernatural character Castiel’s debut in the world of comics. Supernatural Special: Castiel #1 has been penned by Preeti Chhibber and illustrated by Pasquale Qualano. The new comic will follow Dean and Sam as they embark on their next thrilling monster hunt, according to CBR. com.
The comic’s synopsis reads: “Fan-favorite [sic] Supernatural character Castiel makes his comics debut! Castiel has always been sure. Of his faith. Of his duty. Of his position. Always. So why is he suddenly having doubts? The only thing he knows is that it has something to do with the Winchesters.
“He’s followed them to Gainesville, FL, on a chaotic weekend when music and sports fans have descended on the city. And wherever Castiel goes, the Winchesters are one step ahead of him, hunting for the monsters that have been reported in the vicinity.
“Whether it’s at a concert, a frat party, or wherever – by the time Castiel follows the trail there, the Winchesters have come and gone. Until they find the thing they’re all looking for… together. But will Castiel help the brothers in their mission, or just get in the way?”.
The announcement has been warmly received by devotees of The CW series, which ruled television screens for 15 years from 2005 to 2020.
This comic represents the latest instalment in an extensive catalogue of titles from Dynamite Entertainment, which has released numerous editions over the past year.
The publisher began producing its Supernatural comics in 2025, bridging the gap for the show’s dedicated fanbase.
DC Comics had also previously released Supernatural comics back in 2012.
While Supernatural may have concluded on television, the narrative continues to thrive within the comic book medium.
