Meghan was expected to join the Duke at engagements both in London and Birmingham during his five-day trip to the UK last week. It was later announced that the duchess would not be joining her husband in London, but that there was still hope she could join him in Birmingham, where Harry officially marked the one-year-to-go countdown for next year’s Invictus Games. But it was further clarified just hours before the engagement that Meghan would not be joining her husband at all.
Now sources claim some Invictus Games organisers “welcomed” the last-minute change and said it managed to keep the spotlight on the one thing that matters, the veterans.
A source told journalist Rob Shuter on his Substack: “There was a real sense of relief backstage.
“When Harry comes alone, the focus stays exactly where he wants it—on the veterans, not on the media frenzy that can surround a royal couple. Everyone could relax and let the event shine.”
Another source dubbed the Duke “low-maintenance” and praised him for being easy to work with.
They said: “He’s incredibly low-maintenance. He’ll happily change plans, stay longer with athletes, and go wherever he’s needed. The whole atmosphere feels lighter when it’s just Harry.”
But they claimed that it’s a different approach when his wife is involved.
They said: “Her visits usually involve extra security meetings, tighter schedules, and constant last-minute adjustments.
“With Harry on his own, everything is refreshingly straightforward. The team can focus on delivering a great event instead of managing endless logistics and drama.”
