UK heatwave ends with weather maps plunging down to 7C – 14 areas belo | Weather | News

Britain’s heatwave looks like it will come to an end this weekend as temperatures plummet to 7C on Sunday.

After basking in weeks of 30C-plus sunshine across three heatwaves, Brits are set to feel an unseasonable chill in the air this weekend, as autumn temperatures return.

The lowest temperatures will be seen in northern England, with WXCharts showing 9C at 6am on Saturday (July 18), and 7C in the same spot 24 hours later.

In fact, 15 forecast areas will be below 10 °C on Saturday morning, and 70 will see single-digit temperatures on Sunday, mostly in northern England and the Scottish Highlands.

They cover 14 council areas. England’s five include Westmorland, Cumberland, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, and County Durham.

In Scotland, the nine areas are Highland, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Perth and Kinross, Argyll and Bute, Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, East Ayrshire, and South Ayrshire.

However, it will be 18C in the south west on both weekend mornings. The forecast for the rest of Saturday and Sunday (July 19) is for dry days featuring sun and cloud for most of the country.

The Met Office forecast for Thursday (July 16) to Sunday said: “Staying dry and settled through the weekend. Further sunny spells, although cloud amounts generally increasing, perhaps bringing the odd shower. Very warm initially, with temperatures then returning closer to average.”

London is forecast to see highs of 25C and lows of 14C this weekend. Cardiff will be hotter than London, with highs of 26C on Saturday and 25C on Sunday and lows of 15C and 13C respectively.

It will be cooler in Scotland, where Edinburgh faces 21C highs and 11C lows on Saturday, followed by 23C and 13C. Over the Irish Sea, Belfast faces similar temperatures of 22C on Saturday, and 21C on Sunday.
