Green Day star unveils Marshall team-up after Super Bowl mystery | Music | Entertainment

Green Day performed at the 2026 Super Bowl earlier this year and thrilled their fans – but they noticed something out of the ordinary. The electric-blue amplifier (amp) sitting behind him sparked questions within the dedicated fanbase, who wondered where this new equipment came from. Now, Marshall has confirmed it is their technology. And that’s not all: It is the amp company’s first artist’s signature amp in 14 years.

The newly-revealed Billie Joe Armstrong 1959BJA Artist Signature amp has been “inspired” by the star, who is best known for his crunchy punk guitar tones and extra-loud performances. According to the company, the amp “builds on Marshall’s legendary handwired 1959HW platform.”

On top of that, it has been refined with a custom ‘Dookie Mod’ – named after and inspired by the signature tone of Green Day’s (arguably) most recognisable album.

The equipment’s colour is also a tribute to Billie Joe’s first guitar, Blue, which is a sticker-covered masterpiece of blue, brass and chrome.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a signature piece without Billie Joe’s own scribble on it, as well, which can be spotted in one of the amp’s corners.

The head-only unit allows buyers to pair the product with a cabinet of their choosing.

Billie Joe himself couldn’t be more excited. “I’m so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp,” he said. “These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the f**k up!!”

Working with Billie to create an amp that captures that punch, aggression and clarity was an incredible project for our team.”

The 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong Artist Signature amp is due for release in just a few days on July 21, 2026, and will be priced at £3,099.99 from Marshall.com.
